Climbed Kilimanjaro 100%

16.02.2023 at 8:00 the whole our group reached the Uhuru Peak 5895 m! This is the highest point in Africa, the summit of Kilimanjaro, and to be more precise, the summit of the Kibo volcano. Kilimanjaro is a massif that consists of three volcanoes: Mawenzi, Shira and Kibo. But everyone is used to calling the central highest volcano Kibo to be Kilimanjaro. Our ascent lasted 8 hours, we spent more than an hour at the top and went to the glaciers. Then it took us about 3 hours to descend. We were lucky with the weather, it was dry during all our trip, and there was no snow at the top. Only once we saw the rain as we came down from the mountain. The team was superb, they did a great job on themselves! Physical and psychological stress during the summitings were rather considerable. But when you do this, the amount of energy released is incomparable.

This time we had the Rongai route, it is the most remote and the only route from the north. Half the way we admired the expanses of Kenya. One of the bonuses was one of the overnight stays in the camp at the Mawenzi volcano. We climbed Kibo on a different route a year ago. From the ground, this route seemed steeper. As it turned out, it was really so. Though, it was a more difficult path than the other routes have. Climbers usually take this route when going from Rongai and Marangu.

Next year, there will be a different route in a different season. Most likely, we will go to Machama in August. You can already book it on the Climbing Kilimanjaro on the route Machame, waterfall and natives page.
