Climbing the Carstensz Pyramid

The highest point of Oceania and Australia, with the height of 4884 m, is included in the Seven Summits program. “Jaya” means “victory” in Indonesian. Jan Carstensz discovered the mountain in 1623, but the first ascent was made only in 1962. The mountain is located on the Indonesian part of the island of New Guinea.

Apart from the ascent, the island is also interesting – this is a great opportunity to travel to the Stone Age, since the traditional way of life of most of the inhabitants of the island has not changed too much over the millennia. Though, you can already see a layer of modernized Papuans along the main tourist roads.

We are planning to climb the mountain at the end of September 2024. You can combine it with a vacation in Bali. I invite everyone who is passionate about mountains to join the summiting. You can already apply on the website.

Book your trip on the Climbing the Carstensz Pyramid page.
